This is a three-week course, split into two parts (2023/08/28 to 2023/09/08 and 2023/10/02 to 2023/10/06).
Attendance of all three weeks is compulsory.
This three-week course is intensive, with homework often being assigned for the next day.
Please revise the functional anatomy of the trunk and neck, upper limbs and lower limbs before the start of the course. You will also receive prereading materials.
From the second day of the course onward you will be working with patients daily and will be practicing treatment techniques on fellow participants. Please ensure that you are appropriately dressed for these sessions.
As this is an outcomes-based course, participants need to demonstrate that they understand and can apply the concepts taught. Continuous evaluation will therefore take taking place during the course and will focus on:
- Participation in class;
- Clinical handling skills during practical and clinical sessions; and
- Homework assigned.
A final assignment will be handed out at the end of the second week. During the break between the second and third week, you will be expected to complete a case study on one of your own patients to demonstrate that you have understood and integrated the Bobath Concept in your assessment and treatment of adults with neurological conditions. The case study is handed in at the start of the final week and will be assessed by the trainers during this week.
The course fee includes the assessment of your assignment during the final week of the course. Reassessments and assignments submitted after the third week of the course will be charged for additionally at these costs:
- Reassessment: R1 750 (incl. VAT);
- Assignment submissions after week three: R3 450 (incl. VAT).
Participants who require special accommodation regarding physical needs for clinical, practical or theory sessions, should contact Cindy Carnie at training@rehabskillslab.co.za to discuss needs and options.
Tea, coffee and snacks are provided at morning tea while tea and coffee are provided at lunchtime and afternoon tea. You are responsible for your own lunch.
