Courses are practical in nature.
You will:
- Practise assessments, measurements, wheelchair mobility skills etc on fellow participants;
- Modify wheelchairs and cushions and work with tools, glue etc; and
- Work clinically with patients.
- Please dress appropriately for these activities.
Bring the following tools:
- Medium flat screwdriver;
- Medium Phillips (star) screwdriver;
- No. 10 and 13 ring/open-ended spanner;
- Measuring tape (preferably rigid). One with inches and centimetres will allow you to convert sizes easily;
- Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 Allen keys;
- Adjustable spanner (open to 25mm);
- Smooth, non-serrated 25-35cm long stiff blade kitchen knife (preferred) or hacksaw blade (minimum 32 teeth per inch). Do not use blade holders as you may wrap tape around one end;
- Stanley knife/scissors to cut upholstery, webbing etc;
- Black marker; and
- White marker/Tipp-Ex.
Tea, coffee and snacks are provided at morning tea and a light meal with a cool drink/juice will be provided at lunchtime.
The course will take place in the training centre of the hospital. Enter the hospital through the main entrance, turn left at the second set of pillars. Take the lift down and follow the signs to the training course.
Please use the parking area at the entrance of the hospital. Turn right into the parking area before going through the security check point.

All courses:
Due to the clinical nature of the training, you will need to have professional indemnity insurance.
Government employees (including community service workers) do not need personal indemnity insurance.
Your name and email address will be added to the course mailing list.
Social or formal photos that may or may not feature course participants may be used on RSLs various platforms for marketing purposes.

In the event of a refund, the merchant (Payflex) service charge plus a RSL admin fee of R550 (incl VAT) will be deducted. Full refunds, minus such charges, must be requested at least 30 days before the start date of the course. After that date, 50 per cent of the course fee (minus the applicable charges) is refundable.
We reserve the right to cancel courses with low registration numbers. All courses will be confirmed/cancelled by email at the latest one month before the course starts.
Only finalise travel and accommodation arrangements after you have received our final confirmation email. We cannot be held liable for the costs incurred for travel and accommodation.
Please note: An admin fee will be charged should you request to attend a different course from the one you have initially registered for.
Should participants provide an incorrect Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) number, which necessitates RSL to do a resubmission to the HPCSA or to reissue a certificate, an admin fee will be charged. The new certificate will be issued after payment has been received.
