Andrea Trout-Daniels
Experience & Activities
Cape Town physiotherapist Andrea Trout-Daniels is a 30-year veteran of the industry and she makes it count.
The 53-year-old’s extensive knowledge of various aspects of her profession make her the ideal mentor at Rehab Skills Lab’s training courses.
Curious by nature
Even though she has world-class qualifications behind her name, including a BSc in Physiotherapy and postgraduate diploma in Rehabilitation Studies from Stellenbosch University, she remains as curious today as she was when she first set off on her journey.
“I’ve always wanted to know what happens under skin – can and how you fix it,” she says.
Andrea, a trainer in Basic and Intermediate seating who is equally proficient in the Bobath concept, adopts an approach of listening to her clients as they often have the answers.
Practice makes perfect
Following principles and “practising, practising, practising” while also being creative and having fun are also part of her mantra.
“I am an advocate for preserving the human rights of persons with disabilities and implementing practical steps to improve their quality of life.
In her course work she aims to grow and develop people, explore new assistive technologies for rehabilitation and always be intentional.
When at home with her husband, Andrea unwinds with a spot of gardening, crafting or, when the mood strikes, “lesser” road running.
